To be named to the dean's list, students must have a grade-point average of 3.0 or better and rank in the top 20 percent of their class in their respective college or school.

Each month, one student is awarded the honor for outstanding academic performance and campus engagement.

Faculty members at the State University of New York at Geneseo have elected 83 students to the college's chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the nation's oldest and most widely known academic honor society. Students from the junior and senior classes are selected each spring for membership into the organization. New inductees from this area are:

Michaella Farrell '15, Katie Morneault '16 and Whitney Wemett '16 took first place in the International Impact category of the Beta Alpha Psi "Best Practices" Competition in Washington, D.C.

Four diverse destinations, 41 caring Baldwin Wallace University students and one short spring break week added up to a world of difference. BW's Alternative Break service program provides students the opportunity to spend their break helping others. Each trip is led by a BW student with a University faculty or staff advisor also participating. The 2015 student volunteers traveled to Roanoke, Va.; Kissimmee, Fla.; Miami, Fla. and Biloxi, Miss.

The Dean's Award for academic excellence is awarded to students with a 3.30 or higher term average while enrolled in 3.75 or more course hours.

Samford University releases dean's lists after the close of the fall and spring semesters each academic year. To qualify for the dean's list, a student must have earned a minimum 3.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0 while attempting at least 12 credit hours of coursework. Dean's List is the highest academic recognition given by the school at the end of each semester.

Students who participate in the H.O.P.E. Service Immersion Program form community with one another during the five months leading up to their trip. They learn about the culture, history and issues of social injustice in the communities they are destined to visit and serve.

The State University of New York at Geneseo has announced its Dean's List for the fall semester 2014. To be on the list, a student must have achieved at least a 3.5 grade point average while taking a minimum of 12 credit hours.

Students honored on the President's List have maintained full-time enrollment and earned a quality point index of 3.75 (roughly equivalent to an A) or better.

Clarkson University has announced recipients of endowed, sponsored, and Share Clarkson scholarships for the 2014-2015 academic year.

Students at SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music will premiere the three winning operatic works of the Domenic J. Pellicciotti Opera Composition Prize next week. The student cast and crew will be able to meet the composers and librettists of the three winning works, "A Letter to East 11th Street," "In a Mirror, Darkly," and "The Fox and the Pomegranate." Performances are from Nov. 13 to Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. at The Crane School of Music.
